Devil's Punchbowl State Natural Area

Our home is situated in the Devil's Punchbowl State Natural Area—a dramatic collapsed sea cave where waves crash spectacularly at high tide. The sandy south beach is perfect for walks and beginner surfing, while the rocky north side reveals incredible tide pools at low tide.

Part of the Otter Rock Marine Reserve, this protected area is home to diverse marine life including sea stars, anemones, mussels, and more.

🌊 Watch the Punchbowl

At high tide, waves surge into the collapsed cave creating a churning cauldron effect. Best viewed from the overlook at the parking area.

🦀 Tide Pooling

Low tide reveals incredible tide pools on the rocky north side. Bring waterproof shoes and explore sea stars, anemones, and crabs.

🏄 Surfing

The south beach is one of Oregon's best beginner surf spots with gentle waves and a sandy bottom. Learn more →

Miles of sandy beach stretch south toward Beverly Beach and Yaquina Head. Perfect for morning walks and beachcombing.

Getting There

Our beach house is just a 2-minute walk from Devil's Punchbowl—one of the closest vacation rentals to this iconic Oregon Coast landmark. The state park has free parking and restrooms.
